Cross-border winter highlights
The itinerary combines mountain culture with a varied series of ski touring days. Planned highlights include the UNESCO-listed Visoki Dečani Monastery, Gacaferi Guesthouse, Maja e Bogiqes, the crossing toward Babino Polje in Montenegro, Grebaje Valley, Taljanka Peak, Three Borders Peak, Dobërdol Valley and White Peak. An ascent of Gjeravica may also be considered when conditions allow.
Because this is a winter mountain journey, these locations describe the intended route rather than a rigid daily promise. The guide may change a summit, crossing or transfer when snow stability, visibility, wind or access conditions require a safer and more suitable alternative.

Guiding, safety and route flexibility
Winter conditions in the Accursed Mountains can change quickly. Daily decisions are therefore based on the guide’s assessment of the snow, weather, avalanche exposure and the ability of the group. Start times, objectives and the order of the route may be adjusted to make the best use of the available conditions.
Participants should follow the guide’s instructions and arrive with appropriate ski touring equipment, winter clothing and personal safety equipment. Final equipment details and any rental arrangements should be confirmed with Wilderness Balkans before travel.
Who is this ski tour for?
This journey is suitable for experienced ski tourers in good physical condition. Participants should be confident making parallel turns in varied snow, comfortable using touring equipment and prepared for long days with sustained ascent and descent. Previous multi-day ski touring experience is strongly recommended.
The tour is not designed as an introductory ski course. When you enquire, share your recent touring experience, fitness level and any equipment questions so the team can help determine whether the trip is a suitable match.
Local accommodation and logistics
The route uses a combination of hotels and traditional mountain guesthouses. Private minibus and 4×4 transfers connect the practical sections between valleys and trailheads, allowing the group to focus its energy on the most rewarding winter terrain.
Staying in locally run accommodation also adds an important cultural dimension to the journey. Meals, hospitality and direct contact with mountain communities are part of the experience, alongside the skiing itself.
